Tonal languages are tough as rubber!

I think it would be a good UI/UX improvement if we add a bell notification on the 'Pick a Room' dropdown instead of clicking it just to let you know that you have a pending chat. See attached photo. I tried it on desktop and the bell icon is instantly visible.

American English, as I tell my students, is direct. Direct in a way that it's conversational English. Grammar is not really follow, as long as you can convey your thoughts, then it's direct.

This one is the Tagalog language from the Philippines. It is Austronesian in nature, we also have Spanish language influence..

OK, I'm lost. What does 'Austronesian' mean? Do you mean Spanish language has an influence on Tagalog?

Austronesian is a family of languages where Tagalog falls under. Together with Bahasa Indonesia, Malay, and others.

Tagalog language also have some loan words from the Spanish as a result of colonization. 

Some examples are

mesa (Tagalog) - la mesa (Spanish) - table (English)

kutsara (Tagalog) - la cuchara (Spanish) - spoon (English)

asul (Tagalog loan word) - azul (Spanish) - blue (English) but in formal Tagalog we call it bughaw

the answer depends on what native language you are speaking. For native English speakers, French would be easier to learn but it will take sometime to learn let's say Mandarin. My native language is Tagalog, it would be easier for me to learn Bahasa Indonesia than Dutch.

There are 4 or 5 categories of languages in terms of difficulty in view of a native English speaker.. here's one link to it

Knowinh both is such a cool thing!

They both fall under Romance Languages, so they are related. I think there are words that are intelligble to both languages. 

I think it would be better if we arrange the footer, viewed on a mobile device, in a logical manner. Evenly spaced out and aligned properly. See attached screenshot.

Is the Cebuano language intelligible with Visayan language? I mean are they somehow related or totally a different one? I have been to Cebu a dozen times and I have picked up several Cebuano words..

I'd go with Japanese accent. I think watching animes when I was younger was a great influence of my affinity with the Japanese culture.

Christmas! Festive moods, shopping, and food!  

I'm currently reading "Man's Search for Meaning" by Viktor E Frankl, I'm into non-fiction, memoirs, and some history.. so far this book is good!

The older I get, the simpler the celebration. Of course, as a kid, we all like to have some surprise parties and what not . But as I grow older, late night dinner, movie, stroll at the park, or even chilling at home would be considered fun.  

The smell of paper, you can't beat that :rolling_on_the_floor_laughing:

I chose conversation but then realized it should be listening (add to it, comprehension). I have experienced talking to non english speakers, they can still converse using a few words and body languages, it's really up to you how to understand it..

To those who are native or masters in English, which is more correct..

1. "I already ate..."

2. "I ate already..."

I know there are many more samples of this kind and the thought doesn't seem to change, but is there an explanation to which one is which? You may want to more! :laughing:

We have different learning styles, especially for those who are self-learning another language. What I usually do is write important words on a notebook, one word for entire page. They say that you learn and remember something faster when write it down.  

I found this Youtube channel called "It's Ok To Be Smart", you might want to check this particular video on "How Some Words Get Forgetted"

I think it is ok but don't rely heavily on it. When we depend too much on technology, our basic brain machinery starts to deteriorate.

1. There's a small grammatical error on the Notification Settings description

It should be "Receive AN email and notification if someone..."

2. Radio buttons on the Student section are not clickable. I'm not sure on this because it says "Mandatory" in the description.

I'd love to visit Morocco because of its night markets, food, and beautiful sand dunes. A little north would be Spain, it would be nice seeing century-old churches, plazas, and of course the experience first hand the Spanish language.  

I totally agree with the article above! Accents makes us unique and sets a clear distinction of our roots and culture. Though sadly, there are still some that make it as a basis of intelligence aside from speaking perfect English.

Language is continuously evolving. As long as you have the grasp of your defacto or second language, and you know where and how to use slang words, then that's fine. You don't want to use slang words in business setting right? :smile:

There are other options too like TOEFL and TESOL. But I think IELTS is the most widely accepted standard. 

East Asia like Japan prefers TOEFL, not sure with TESOL though.

Is it mandatory to take all skills assessment, reading/speaking/writing/listening?, or can I just take 2 out of 4?

I'm a beginner learner and the current language learning method I use are books and reliable Youtube videos. During my spare time, like commuting to and from work, I listen to Spotify podcasts. An hour or two, sometimes three, a day is enough for me. I don't want to have an information overload.
