Getting some weird freaky text from this... when I paid the 10 bucks for all the transcripts to her videos I was hoping I could use them on LT.io

Can any of the admins check?

So, I use iTunes on desktop (despite being pretty anti-apple!) just because it counts number of plays on a track. I find this useful for counting how many times I've listened to a conversation. Any ideas of a player that has this feature on android?

PIM Pimsleur

RGB zhongwenred.com + files taken from zhongwen green and blue (now defunct) mostly done through anki

Peppa Pig Kids show with lots of dialog, almost non stop. Several studies have been done that show that Peppa Pig is useful for SLA purposes.

If not, we should make one. We can list sites like "wikipedia, wattpad, etc etc" to make it easier to build our libraries. I've found wattpad surprisingly good for Tagalog for example and it supports a lot of languages.

Hi! Is this Nynorsk? Looks like it. Curious if this was a test post.

Gotta say! I'm blown away by how well the language tool handles Mandarin! It doesn't feel the need to chop up the words a n d a d d u n n a t u r a l s p a c e s, and having pinyin on mouse over is genius! Great job LT.io team. Really, I'm impressed! Truly impressed.

Missing audio. It told me my message was too short so I copied and pasted this to make it longer.

Decided to test tagaloglesson conversations.

First lesson at the beach "Kung baga" is written as well, "Kung baga", however in practice its often written kumbaga. I wanted to make a phrasal translation and tag it as <kumbagá: [expression] like; that is to say; in a sense; as if; it seems> however, it won't let me as I'm not the owner of the passage?

Hey, does anyone have any chrome plug ins that can change the color scheme of LT? I'm red green color blind and find the default scheme hard to use.

Kkeutmalitgi
Don't try to pronounce it.

This game is fairly simple; you have to say a word which begins with the last letter of the previous word. For example:

1: Tree (English)
2: eesti (estonia . estonian)
3: 인생 (insaeng , life , Korean)
4: gateau (cake , French)
5: 울다 (ulda , to cry, Korean)

etc. So, the way your message should be formatted is like this:
(number of post) (word) (romanisation, meaning, language, exceptions can be made for languages with small phonemic inventories)

RULES:
1: Don't use the same language as the previous person.
2: Don't repeat words.
3: be logical...
4: Only post one message at a time. The same person can't do two posts back to back.

If you've got it, then let's start! Your word is:

1: 도서관 (doseogwan, library, Korean)

Good luck!

https://github.com/dobladov/youtube2Anki#instructions

This tool takes all of five minutes to set up, lets you rip youtube videos directly into anki with no download of the video (just be aware that the youtube video has to allow embedding).

Watch it and read it with the languagetool, review it directly in anki with the original video.

Requires Anki 2.1, I had to retire my Anki 2.0 but I'm quite happy. Having videos directly in the Anki make it so much more enjoyable.

50 Languages Book2 offer their content under a CC license. About 3k sentences aimed at learners with audio. The issue is that we can't modify the recordings. Some of their recordings are very short, and I don't think that we can condense them unfortunately. Otherwise it would make a great easy addition for beginners and a good way to use the "playlist" feature. Would just love to make them more useable.

Just to put it out there guys if you're rank beginners and still want to learn with reading rather than doing srs drills over and over as a a main tool they're an option. Their website isn't great or easy to use and I'd like to keep track of the words anyways in my little "word count" thingy.

https://www.50languages.com/licence.html

^ link to the license

Could be an easy way to generate content, especially for newbies who make up the bulk of language learners.

I receive this error message when attempting to export my vocab. I tested it for both tagalog and indonesian and got the same message, no matter what I tried.

The University of Hawaii has decided to release their out-of-print titles about some Philippine languages under a Creative Commons 4.0 license.

Translation: free books, everyone :)

Languages covered under this series include:

Bicol

Cebuano

Hiligaynon

Ilocano

Kapampangan

Pangasinan

and one textbook in Tagalog

and are either textbook/tutorial, grammar reference or dictionaries (depends on the langauge...for example, the Tagalog title is just a textbook, but there's no separate grammar or dictionary title).

Titles are available in both PDF and EPUB format.

I've recently had an uptick in site usage and I've noticed definitions leak from other languages. I had the Indonesian word "pas" get flagged as the french "pas". One means just right, the other is a postpositive negation word. Similarly a lot of false-friends with Indonesian and Tagalog. I've taken to flagging the writing in the correct Indonesian translation and flagging it with (indonesian).

Hello po! Lagi akong nakakapansin ng maraming Tagalog na estudyante rito. Nalalaman ko itong mga laro para sa inyong lahat! Spell the Word in Tagalog, ang una kong sasabihin.

Hehehe. Mahirap magsulat ng malalim na Tagalog! Hay naku!
