Teaching the Experience of Being a Teacher

A list of main points about me as a teacher:

 Two and a half year full-time English teacher in an elementary school.

 I am thoughtful, reflective, and committed to life-long learning and continued development as an educator.

 I always try to find the right teaching methods to help my students to learn English. For example, I had a student who was not willing to speak English. I decided to invite her to join my puppetry team that involved having her listen to an audio clip and then repeat her lines and speak out loud behind the puppet. After joining the team, she became more willing to start a simple conversation with others over time.

 Have a positive attitude that emphasis never giving up on a student because all students can learn a language if teachers teach them with suitable teaching methods.

 For the past two and a half years, I have been developing substantial teaching materials for first through sixth grade.

 I assign differentiated and personalized homework tasks according to each student’s needs.

 I believe that the most effective way of teaching is constant practice combined with making learning English fun, so as to engage the students’ interest in the material. For example, when I taught a student who was not willing to write, I provided his favorite story in both languages, and he was eager to read the English version because he knew the storyline very well. He was willing to translate his favorite part into English after reading it many times. Although he couldn’t translate it perfectly, I could see that choosing materials that he loves really sparked his interest in learning English.

Very well written - better than many native English speakers could do.
